Hello Year 5's!
I hope each of you are doing well. I know this is a very strange time and I already miss seeing you all each day. I will be posting activities and learning tasks on this page each week to help keep you all busy during your time at home! Decimals & Percentages
We will be taking a look at rounding decimals. Remember the poem we learnt earlier in the year!
Underline the digit,
Look right next door.
If it's 5 or higher add 1 more!
If it's 4 or lower, just ignore.
Now is also a great time to brush up on your multiplication facts. Focus on your times tables from 1 to 12. Here is a fun way to practise: Times Table Blast

Spelling pattern: Prefixes: ex- and pre-
Practice learning the spelling of each word. Remember use your strategies: Cover, spell, check/ Rainbow writing/ Partner testing (ask someone at home to help you out).
A prefix is placed before a root word to change its meaning.
The spelling of the root word is not changed when adding a prefix.
The prefix ex- means “from” or “out of.”
The prefix pre- means “before” or “in advance.”
This weeks task:
The book Wonder is told in the perspective of many different characters. Each chapter is separated in different points of view. However, none of the chapters are written from the point of view of Auggie's parents. Pretend to be one of them and rewrite a scene through their eyes. How might they have seen the event? How might they have felt?
Here are some ideas for scenes:

When Jack goes over to Auggie's to work on their science project
Alan Peat Sentence Focus:
Task: How many Some; others sentences can you write?
Can you include one in your piece of writing for the week?
LO: To investigate different types of food from each of the food groups and how each affects our bodies (good and bad).
Why might it be important to include foods from each group into our diet?
Task: Design a weekly school dinners menu. How can you ensure students are getting the nutrients they need? How can you make the meals exciting and appealing for students?
