Reading Task

Today we will be focusing on vocabulary.

Listen to the story again and write down any words that you are not sure of the meaning.

It is really important that we find out what new words mean. We should always try to learn as many new words as possible!

Here are some of the tricky words, I found to get you started.

cosy

indignant

bold

flying saucer

crook

Here is a great online dictionary for children. It also has a new 'Word of the Day' which you could use to learn new words every day!

When you have found the meaning of your new word, use the worksheet below to help you to use the word in different ways.

Capacity and Volume

Today I would like you to recap capacity and volume. This is a great thing to practise at home!

I would like you to find different containers around the house for you to fill up and compare their capacities.

You can also carry out an investigation to see how many smaller containers it takes to fill the larger containers.

Here is an example of a question to help you.

Special Task

Learn to say hello in different languages!

This is a great time to try and learn different languages. I have been trying to learn Spanish and I know that lots of you have been practising french. I thought it would be a good idea today to learn how to say 'hello' in lots of different languages.
