Comprehension Questions

This week, for comprehension you are going to listen to an audio story. I want to see how well you understand and remember stories you have listened to. Listening is a very important skill and it is important to be able to concentrate and listen for a long time.

For this activity, I want you to sit in a comfy chair or lay down on the floor with a pillow or cushion to rest your head. You might want to close your eyes to help you visualise the story (but you don't have to). You might also want to listen to the story through headphones instead of your device's speaker.

Task: Listen to the audio story then answer the comprehension questions using full sentences.

Tall Tales with Alex: The Golden Plunder

1. What is the name of the captain of the ship The Golden Plunder?

2. Use three adjectives to describe The Golden Plunder.

3. Where is the treasure the pirates are looking for located?

4. This story is a narrative. What is the 'dilemma' in this narrative?

5. Who was your favourite character in this story and why?

6. What was the best part about this story and this activity?

7. Is there anything you did not like?

8. Would you like to hear more audio stories like this?

You may either:

- write your answers on a piece of paper and email me a photo of your work or

- type your answers in an email and send it to me

Please send to me at hhobbs@sfdprimary.co.uk

Reflection and Feedback

How are you feeling after your eighth full week of online learning? Thank you for all of your feedback paragraphs each week. I have tried to listen to you all and change things to suit the feedback you've given me. It is lovely to see how much you are enjoying online learning.

Task: Write a few sentences (about one paragraph) OR record a video or voice recording reflecting on your learning this week.

Information you might like to include:

  • What was your favourite activity and which activities did you enjoy this week?
  • What do you like about online learning?
  • What have you found challenging about online learning?
  • Which piece of work are you most proud of this week?
  • What could you do better next time?
  • What would you like to see more of next week?
  • Is there anything else you would like to learn about next week?
  • Is there anything else you would like to tell me?

You may either:

- write your feedback and reflection paragraph on a piece of paper and email me a photo of your work

- type your feedback and reflection paragraph using your computer and email it to me or

- record your feedback using any type of media you wish and email the file to me

Please send to me at hhobbs@sfdprimary.co.uk
