Forest - Monday

Welcome Back Forest Class!

I hope you had a lovely weekend!

This half term our topic is 'Under the Sea!' We will be reading some great stories and learning some facts about creatures that live under the sea.

Make sure you have a look at our Weekly Update to see your Reception friends and their learning from last week.  You can find the Weekly Update and WOW Board here

Reading

This week we are going to be learning about turtles!

turtle | Species, Classification, & Facts | Britannica

Have you seen one of these turtles before?

This week we are going to read another non-fiction text. This time our non-fiction book is about turtles. We are going to be focussing on turtles this week!

Remember a nonfiction text is one that tells you facts and information about the world around you. If it's about something that really happened or something that really exists, it is nonfiction.

Watch the video

Can you share with a family member what you learned about turtles from the video? What do they eat? Where do they live? Are they big or small?

Phonics

Well done everyone, you have now learned all of the sounds in set 1 and 2. You will now review and consolidate all the sounds!

We played this game last week but today I have added some new pictures. Can you find out the secret words? Look at the pictures below and write the first sound of each picture. Then put the sounds together and read what the secret word is. The first one has been done for you.

This week we are going to learn about odd and even numbers. Last week we learned about equal and unequal groups. We are going to use this to help us find out which numbers are odd and even.

First, let's watch the video below that will explain what odd and even means.

Special Task

Last week we learned how to keep safe with our friends. I hope you had a great time making your own 'Healthy Hug'. We have done lots of talking and practising washing our hands, now we are going to learn about how to keep the rest of our skin and clothes clean too!

Watch the video below :)
