Blythe - Monday

Welcome Back Blythe Class!

I hope you had a lovely weekend!

This half term our topic is 'Under the Sea!' We will be reading some great stories and learning some facts about creatures that live under the sea.

Make sure you have a look at our Weekly Update to see your Reception friends and their learning from last week.  You can find the Weekly Update and WOW Board here

This week we are going to be learning about sharks!

Have you seen one of these sharks before? There are many different types of sharks. The one in the picture above is called a Hammerhead Shark. Today, instead of reading a book, we are going to watch a video that will help us to learn some facts about sharks.

A fact is a thing that is true not made up. We can learn facts from non-fiction books and informative videos like the one we are going to watch today. I wonder what facts you will learn about sharks?

Watch the video

Can you share with a family member what you learned about sharks from the video? Can you name some different types of sharks? What do they eat? Where do they live? Are they big or small?

Miss Cohen's, Emma's and Ms. Fullerton's groups

Well done everyone, you have now learned all of the sounds in set 1 and 2. You will now review and consolidate all the sounds!

We played this game last week but today I have added some new pictures. Can you find out the secret words? Look at the pictures below and write the first sound of each picture. Then put the sounds together and read what the secret word is. The first one has been done for you.

Miss Fernando's group

We have now learned all of the sounds for Reception. We will now review and consolidate all the sounds. Well done!

Today we are going to practise sounding out and spelling words with the sound 'ow'.

Spelling 'ea'

                                                                                         Click on the 'ea' button

This week we are going to learn about sharing in groups. We have already learned how to share equally when we were learning about halves. Do you remember?

We share 4 sweets into 2 equal groups to find out half of 4.

We made sure both groups were equal. We found that half of 4 is 2!

Today we are going to sort pictures that show equal and unequal groups. Look at the examples below:

In this picture, each circle has 2 red blocks inside. So each group is equal.

In this picture, each circle has a different amount of cats inside. They are not the same. These are unequal groups.

Now try and see if these are equal or unequal groups:

Here is an extra one, if you are up for the challenge?

Special Task

The world is a little different these days. In the past when we saw our friends and other people that we cared about, we might have given them a hug or a high-5 or even a fist bump. Unfortunately we can't do these things at the moment, as it is not safe to be close to people that don't live in our homes with us.

We are going to look at finding a new way for you to show your friends just how much you care about them using signs and gestures! I can't wait to see you and show you my new 'Healthy Hug!'

Watch the video below to find out how you can create your own special healthy hug so that you can safely show your friends how much you care for them.

Healthy Hugs

You can draw or take a photo of the healthy hug that you have created so your friends can see it.

I look forward to seeing your learning today!
